An iconic hotel in one of Australia’s top five tourist destinations is up for sale.
The
Oceans Hotels and Tourism group has placed its Club Crocodile Airlie
Beach on the market. The 1.3ha property is for sale through an
expression of interest campaign run by the PRDnationwide Whitsunday
agency. The Whitsunday Islands are a collection of islands off the
central coast of Queensland, Australia, some 900 kilometres north of
Brisbane
Tourism operators and mining companies are expected to
show interest in the 160-room hotel which has two swimming pools, tennis
courts, games room and restaurant.
PRDnationwide marketing
agent Christie Leet said the hotel, owned by the Oceans Hotel group for
five years, already has a strong cash flow.
He said: "This
property has an established iconic brand with strong recognition in
tourism circles, particularly regionally, coupled with the main road
exposure and capitalizing on the drive-by market which is predominantly
mining related."
Leet added the property would most likely appeal
to owner operators or a smaller national chain but there was the
possibility of a mining company or investor running it as staff or
off-site accommodation.
"Airlie Beach is in the top five desired
tourism destinations nationally. Club Crocodile’s volume of 160 rooms
will allow the new owner a substantial footprint in the Whitsunday
marketplace,” he added.
The land is zoned Residential B. It has
north-facing views across the beautiful Whitsunday Passage. The hotel is
close to local airports, shopping centres and restaurants.
Tenders close on November 12.
