By Andrew Batt:
The number of new property launches in Thailand during the first eight months of 2012 dropped 20 percent on the same period last year, however there was a 0.01 percent rise in the number of units coming to market.
Data from the Agency for Real Estate Affairs noted that 64,450 units were launched between January and August of this year. There was a 10 percent decline in both the combined value of the new launches and the average price per unit – which now stands at THB 2.76 million.
During August there were 31 projects launched with a combined 8,208 units worth THB 27.26 billion. Some 51 percent were condominium units, 28 percent were townhouses and 19 per cent were single detached homes.
Andrew Batt, International Group Editor for PropertyGuru, said: “More units from less projects shows that developers are focusing on larger projects with significantly more units than during the same period last year.”
