EXCLUSIVE: Thai property buyers and investors can expect to see more London property exhibitions in Bangkok during 2013.
Richard Levene, Director of International Property for Southeast Asia at Colliers International, speaking exclusively to DDproperty.com at a London property exhibition in Singapore, said: “We’ll shortly be starting to sell London properties at exhibitions in Bangkok for the first time.”
The Thai capital has been largely been off the radar for many London property developers who have chosen to market their projects in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, however a number of industry experts have highlights both Thailand and Indonesia as markets to watch this year.
To date Bangkok has seen a relatively small number of London property exhibitions, and just a fraction of those seen in Singapore. Just last weekend the city state saw five separate events selling property investments from the United Kingdom. One – Battersea Power Station – sold more than 100 units in just one day.
Levene added: “We’re already starting to see more Thais looking to buy in London.”
Last week research published by Knight Frank revealed that Singaporeans were the number one overseas buyers of new-build properties in central London in 2012, comprising some 23 percent of all purchasers. Thai buyers were responsible for less than 1 percent of central London new-build buys.
