Drop in Bangkok new launches

28 Oct 2013

Just 22 new residential projects were launched throughout Bangkok during September – a decline of 16 percent by total value from the previous month.

The Agency for Real Estate Affairs (AREA) noted there were 10,459 new units which came to market during September worth a combined THB34.01 billion.

AREA president Dr. Sopon Pornchokchai attributed the decline to the inclement weather and to strong rains which caused flooding in some areas of the Thai capital.

Condominium dvelopments remained the most popular with buyers and invtesors, with 9,765 units launched in September. This equated to 88.5 percent of the total new residential launches, and was followed by townhouses (722 units – 6.9%) and detached houses (319 units – 3.1%).

Residences priced between THB1 million and THBt3 million remained the popular by price and accounted for 54 percent of new projects launched during September.
