Bangkok remained the top destination for foreign property buyers and investors in 2012 according to a new survey published by the Agency for Real Estate Affairs (AREA).
Foreign property buyers and investors accounted for property sales worth THB67 billion in 2012 – and made up 11.6 percent of all property sales transacted,
Of all foreign buyers, 26.9 percent purchased in Bangkok, with Phuket (21.1 percent), Pattaya (19.7 percent), Cha-am and Hua Hin combined (10.9 percent) and Chiang Mai (3.3 percent) making up the top five most preferred property buying locations in Thailand.
AREA’s President Dr. Sopon Pornchokchai said the survey revealed that the top five provincial cities in Thailand in which foreign buyers are most interested in buying property were Phuket, Pattaya, Cha-am and Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai.
