A former court complete with cells and a Second World War air raid shelter are just two of some 368 properties which are set to go under the hammer at a property auction in London later this month.
The Allsop property auction, which will take place at the Cumberland Hotel in London on May 29 – 30, includes a wide range of property throughout the UK. London represents the largest proportion of the catalogue with 34 percent of the lots offered coming from the UK capital.
The largest lot in the sale is 10 Thurloe Street, South Kensington, SW7. The freehold property is a Grade II listed building providing a dentist surgery and self-contained two-bedroom flat producing £95,000 income per annum. The guide price is set at between £2.6 million – £2.7 million.
Other highlights include an air shelter located in Guildford. The shelter dates back to World War II and currently has a change of use application in process. The guide price is £10,000.
For the property investor looking for something more unusual the auction offers a rare chance to own a former magistrates’ court (pictured) compete with prison cells in Harwich, Essex. The site has potential for redevelopment and will be offered with a guide price of between £275,000 to £325,000
Richard Adamson, Partner and Auctioneer for Allsop, said: “We are very encouraged not only by the size of this sale but by the quality of the properties being offered. It demonstrates the continued and increasing confidence in the auction process, which is a proven and reliable route to market. In many cases it offers more certainty, transparency and fluidity than the private treaty market. Our global marketing campaigns encourage competitive bidding in a very transparent environment ensuring the true value of property is realised on the day.“
