Kingdom support for yacht race

2 Apr 2014

Thailand property developer Kingdom Property has strengthened its bond with one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting lifestyle destinations with the staging of the Kingdom Property Matchrace Thailand Championship at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya.

The Kingdom Property Matchrace Thailand Championship is the premier event of its kind in the region and attracted 11 international teams when recently held in perfect sailing conditions, with Singaporean Maximilian Soh beating compatriot Justin Liu in the final.

The event is also the latest in a long line of sailing initiatives supported by Kingdom Property, including sponsoring a young sailors’ development programme at Royal Varuna, and supporting Kamolwan Chanyim  who is hoping to represent Thailand at the 2016 Olympic Games, and who competed recently in the Singapore Youth Sailing Championships.

Kingdom Property Chief Executive Officer Nigel Cornick said: "Sailing is a fantastic sport and it is great to see the young teams compete and strive for the goals to which they aspire. Pattaya is a perfect sailing destination, convenient and close to Bangkok, and nowhere is this better than at the venerable Royal Varuna Yacht Club.

"We are delighted to be the title sponsor of this event. It a very professionally run and managed event and certainly in line with our values as a company to offer quality without compromise. As a destination Pattaya is growing in stature and this is fine example of the kind of active lifestyle activities individuals and families can enjoy here."

Pattaya’s re-birth as a family destination continues to gather pace with the emergence of new branded theme parks, international schools and hospitals and high quality options in dining and sports – especially sailing and golf – all reflecting the region’s changing profile towards the family leisure market.
