Blue Line study to begin

Kanchana Paha15 Sep 2014

Bangkok’s Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is expediting the ‘Blue Line’ train project from Tha Phra to Phutthamonthon Sai 4 , and is expected to begin work in 2016.

MRTA Governor Yongsit Rotesrikul said the MRTA had allocated budget of around THB40 million to study and design the 8-kilometers-long Blue Line, whose total investment value was THB140 billion. The project would be submitted to the Cabinet within next year before auctions started in 2016, the governor said.

The Blue Line extension is under the strategy to develop the country’s transportation infrastructure for the years 2015-2022. The strategy has been approved by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).
