Despite being in the midst of a presidential campaign that is taking him across the United States, republican candidate and real-estate developer Donald Trump has sold a condo in his 32-story Trump Park Avenue Building for USD14.05 million, The Wall Street Journal reported. The building is situated in the heart of Manhattan.
This is the second unit in the building that Trump has sold in the past six months, The WSJ added. In July, he sold the massive penthouse at the Trump Park Avenue Building for USD21 million. The most recently sold unit has four bedrooms and is situated on the 27-floor of the building. The unit underwent renovations before being sold and features include oak floors, handcrafted Italian brass doorknobs and views of Park Avenue.
Listing agent Michelle E. Griffith of Trump International Realty told the newspaper that Trump never lived in this condo but noted that it had been rented out over a month ago for USD16.8 million before going onto the market. She did not say who the buyer was; however, she did mention that they would be using the unit as a full-time residence.
During the past 12 months, Griffith has sold over USD45 million worth of real estate in the Trump Park Avenue Building, according to The WSJ. She did not reveal if the increase in sales and interest in the building was due to Trump’s presidential campaign.
Trump’s daughter and executive vice president of development and acquisitions of the Trump Organization, Ivanka Trump, explained to The WSJ that the sale of this unit had nothing to political fundraising. “We sell units when the market is conducive to selling,” she stated.
The building was home of the Delmonico Hotel before being purchased by Trump in 2001 for USD115 million. He converted the hotel into condominiums and retained possession of several units including another penthouse that is currently for sale. The asking price for that residence is USD35 million.
