Priciest US home for sale

River House Residence already owns the title of the largest single family residence in Manhattan, and now – at US$130 million – it also holds the record for the most expensive property listing ever to appear in the United States.

The large townhouse was opened in 1931 and is designed by famous architect William Bottomley. It covers an impressive 62,000 sq ft over its sumptuous 26-storeys that are being offered fully-furnished.

It offers a huge court room, 30 spacious living areas, eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Residents will enter through a private entrance and into the 8,400 sq ft entrance lobby. The major public rooms, according to the property listing, feature 20 ft high ceilings and expansive light-filled spaces.

The is a 27,500 sq ft garden/leisure level includes a 62 ft swimming pool, tennis court, IMAX screening room, wine cellar, full spa and gaming room. The 15,000 sq ft bedroom Level features a 27 x 61 ft Master Suite, and also includes his and her baths, dressing rooms and closets.

According to various media reports this is the first time the house is being offered for sale. The co-op used to be home to a posh private club that turned down Gloria Vanderbilt, Richard Nixon, Diane Keaton and Joan Crawford in its time.
