Thailand has been ranked in the top twenty countries for Russian overseas property buyers in a survey of more than 400 local and overseas Russian real estate agencies by the overseas Russian language property portal Tranio.ru.
Whilst it is clear that Thailand’s ranking from Russians has declined, this is due to the rise in popularity and ease-of-purchase of more local locations, such as Spain, Italy and Bulgaria which topped the most-preferred property buying destinations for Russians.
Thailand fared best for its climate, attractive property prices and low crime rate, according to the survey.
More than 70 percent of respondents to the survey noted Thailand’s perception as a cheap property buying destination, with Russians most active in the THB2.1 million to THB3.5 million price range.
More than 62 percent of Russians choose to buy apartments, with more than 70 percent buying for a vacation home, the survey discovered.
