Slight oversupply in Bangkok condo sector

3 Oct 2012

By Andrew Batt:

The condominium market in parts of Bangkok is experiencing a slight oversupply, according to data from the Real Estate Information Center.

Samma Kitsin, Director-General, revealed the number of newly launched condominium units in Greater Bangkok was almost twice that of single houses and townhouses during the first nine months of 2012.

Noting the slight oversupply situation, he added that some 9,000 to 10,000 condomiium units were launched in the upper Sukhumvit Road area and on Ratchadapisek Road, but that sales were slow.

"Developers are unhappy with the situation, but buyers are happy as they have greater choices with competitive prices and attractive campaigns," he said.
